CrossCycle is a simple app that allows a cyclist to communicate with so-called intelligent traffic lights. As a result, you can get green earlier or more often at the cyclists crossing. And you no longer have to press the button.Where is this possible? In the Netherlands, about 500 traffic lights have already been made intelligent and more are being added. You can find them on this map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/drive?state=%7B%22ids%22%3A%5B%221w0t4hZD7ym_YeTJx1ke3iq7IziYnaFFH%22%5D%2C%22action%22%3A%22open%22%2C%22userId%22%3A%22105589652477934455177%22%7D&usp=sharingHow does it work?CrossCycle improves cycling comfort by ensuring that traffic lights see a cyclist approaching earlier. This is done by continuously sending the GPS location of the bicycle to the traffic control equipment of the intersection. Depending on the traffic control program, the cyclist may get green earlier or it will be extended. In some cases, there may be a real priority over other traffic or you will receive extra priority if you approach with a group of cyclists (with the app of course). The degree to which you receive priority depends on the configuration of the traffic light program and the policy choices of the road authority (city or council). There is never a firm guarantee that the traffic light will turn green in time, as the other traffic at the intersection must also be handled. How does the app work? The app does not require operation while cycling. If the app is not near a traffic light, the GPS localization will be reduced to minimize battery usage. You can leave the app running in the background or stop and start it if you want. If the app is near an intelligent traffic light, you will see the Dynniq logo turn into a cyclist. What about your privacy? The app uses the location of the smartphone to send this completely anonymously to the traffic light. It is so-called streaming data. We do not use any other data from or on your smartphone. Certainly no personal data. If we save the location data, it will be done completely anonymously, without it being traceable to a person. Moreover, we only do this to improve the quality of our services or to generate traffic data, for example to find out how the bicycle infrastructure can be improved or the traffic lights programs themselves.SafetyAs a cyclist and user of the CrossCycle app, you remain fully responsible at all times for complying with the traffic rules, observing the traffic situation yourself, the formal physical traffic signs, traffic lights or other directions. Dynniq Nederland B.V. will not assume any responsibility for any damage arising from the use of the CrossCycle app.Dynniq Nederland B.V. cannot guarantee that the information provided by the CrossCycle app will function uninterrupted or error-free. In the most extreme cases, this CrossCycle app can display information other than the physical traffic lights on the road, such as but not limited to dynamic signs, traffic lights or signalling devices. The typical nature of the real traffic also plays a role. Therefore, the actual traffic rules and signs are leading at all times and not the information on the CrossCycle app.(C) 2017-2020 Dynniq Nederland B.V.
